The Marion County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, or MARCA, is hosting an open forum on its two levies Thursday, November 2, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., at their facility at 2387 Harding Highway East.
Superintendent Lee Wedemeyer and the MRDD management team will answer any questions about the levies.
MRDD has two levy issues on the ballot for Tuesday, November 7. They are:
• 0.5-mill Capital Renewal Levy. This five-year levy is a renewal of an existing levy and will not increase taxes.
• 1.35-mill Operating Replacement Levy. This levy would replace two continuous levies – a 1-mill from 1978 and a 0.35-mill from 1985.
Tours of the MRDD facilities also will be available. For additional information, contact MRDD at 740-387-1035.
About 500 Marion County residents, ranging from infants to senior citizens, receive services from MRDD. The agency sponsors the Marion Area Retarded Children and Adults (MARCA) sheltered workshop, the Marie English Early Childhood Center, various adult services, community employment and residential programs.
