Time Running Out To Dispute Property Value

03-26-2008  Article by:

Marionites who disagree with their property taxes have less than a week to appeal their appraisals. The deadline to appeal is Monday, March 31st at 4 PM. All appeals must be made at the Marion County Auditor’s Office.

Once the appeal has been filed, another inspection will be done and the value may or may not be changed.

The homeowner will then be asked to deny or accept the appealed value.

A denial means the homeowner will go in front of the Marion County Board of Revision – made up of the county auditor, treasurer, and a representative of the commissioners. There the homeowner can supply any and all information they have to dispute the appraised value.

To file an appeal or for more information, call the Marion County Auditor’s office at 223-4020.
