Hospice Offers Webcast For Local Providers

03-28-2008  Article by:

Marion General Hospital Hospice will host the Hospice Foundation of America’s (HFA) annual Webcast. This annual educational program is presented live via satellite, and has been instrumental in educating health care professionals and families on issues affecting end-of-life care. It also provides an opportunity for a wide variety of professionals --including, but not limited to, social workers, clergy, nurses, educators and bereavement counselors-- to share and exchange ideas and to obtain continuing education credits.

This year’s program focuses on “Living with Grief: Children and Adolescents.” The Webcast will describe and evaluate strategies for working with grieving children and adolescents, including counseling, support groups, expressive and play therapies, school-based programs, and camp-based programs. Effective strategies to empower parents and other support systems, such as schools and faith communities, assist grieving children and adolescents, will be discussed. The program will be broadcast from 1:30-4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, at the Marion General Hospital Office & Conference Center, located at 278 Barks Road West, adjacent to the Marion post office.

Registration deadline for the Webcast is April 11. To learn more about this program, visit the Hospice Foundation of America website at www.hospicefoundation.org. For more local information about the Webcast, please contact Brenda Thompson, Marion General Hospital Hospice, at 740/383-8769.
