Man To Plead Guilty In Mercury Spill

A man who authorities say contaminated the Morrow County Courthouse with mercury has agreed to a plea deal.

55-year-old Tommy Chris Hansen has reached a deal to plead guilty to multiple felony counts on April 25th. His April 21st trial has been continued in expectation of the plea.

Hansen is facing a first-degree felony charge of criminal use of a chemical weapon after the June 27th incident that resulted in evacuations when several area of mercury – which can be fatal – were located. He is also facing charges of inducing panic, vandalism, and felonious assault.

In an unrelated case, Hansen is also facing 13 counts of gross sexual imposition for allegedly exposing himself and touching young girls at the Mt. Gilead Campground, which Hansen owns.
