Credit union leaders from across Ohio will march into Marion, Saturday, April 19th as part of a march across Ohio to benefit Children’s Hospitals. The goal is to raise $100,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network. Spearheaded by the Ohio Credit Union League’s ‘Credit Unions for Kids Committee,’ the annual Marching Miles for Miracle Kids march-a-thon distributes the money to Ohio Children’s Hospitals.
“Giving back to the communities we serve is part of the credit union mantra,” said Glenn Coble, Business Development officer of Marion Community Credit Union (MCCU). “People across Ohio rely on the expertise of the doctors and staff of Children’s Hospital each day, and this is our way of providing support to their monumental efforts.”
Marion Community Credit Union is well over $1,000 in contributions to the 2008 Marching Miles campaign. Additionally, staff members and volunteer leaders from area credit unions are taking part in the march, including Vidya Iyengar, CEO at MCCU, Dave Shuey of United Federal Credit Union as well as Coble.
The 190-mile march kicked-off in Toledo on April 6 and will conclude in Columbus on April 24 at the Ohio Credit Union League’s Zenith 2008 convention at the Columbus Convention Center. On average, marchers will travel 10 miles a day during the 19-day trek. The marchers will be welcomed at a ceremony during the convention and a check will be presented to the Children’s Miracle Network.
