Despite several emergency phone calls, a violent weather system that swept through Marion County on Friday evening did not produce a tornado.
Several calls were received by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department reporting funnel clouds and asking about potential twisters, although no funnel cloud was spotted by deputies.
A tornado warning was issued for Marion County after the National Weather Service noticed some characteristics of the storm were conducive to producing a tornado.
Another call came in to the Marion City Police Department stating a tornado had touched down on Waterloo Street. That report, too, was found to be erroneous.
Despite the severe weather, no damage was reported.
