The Dispatch family, Mid-Ohio FoodBank and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium are teaming up in the fight against hunger.
On Saturday April 26th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., members of the central Ohio community have the opportunity to show their generosity by donating food for their neighbors in need at the 2008 WBNS-10TV Food Parade. For every six cans of food you bring to the Food Parade, you will receive a ticket for one free admission to the Zoo on April 26th.
Donations to the Food Parade benefit Mid-Ohio FoodBank’s Operation Feed campaign, a community-wide food and funds drive. This year, Operation Feed is expanding to Marion and Morrow Counties and will help stock the shelves of 243 food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in eight central Ohio counties. Eleven of these agencies are located in Marion County.
Organized in 1982 in Franklin and contiguous counties, Operation Feed has become one of the largest food drives in the nation and is critical to ensuring that those experiencing hunger in central Ohio find an adequate supply of food at Mid-Ohio FoodBank’s network of emergency feeding agencies.
If you can’t make it to the Zoo on April 26th, you can make a donation to the Food Parade Telethon by calling (614) 821-1010 or toll-free at (877) 220-1010.
For more information on other ways you can get involved in Operation Feed contact Mid-Ohio FoodBank at (614) 274-7770.
