The Victim Assistance Program held its annual "I am a Safe Kid Because" contest to commemorate National Crime Victims Rights Week, April 13-19.
The 20 semi-finalists entries will be on display in City Hall. More than 500 entries from third graders from area schools were received this year. Twenty entries were chosen as semi-finalists.
The four finalists were awarded $20 gift certificates and the grand prize winner received a $50 gift certificate and a pizza party for her class.
That grand prize winner was Gracie Smith. Other finalists were Alec Beickelman, Kaden Cahill, Zachary Lingo, and Emma Heimlich.
