Heather N. Bennett, 25, of 448 Van Buren St., Marion was sentenced to 10 months in prison Monday afternoon for trafficking in cocaine.

Bennett was arrested by MARMET officers on Jan. 11 and was accused of being an accomplice to a $50 cocaine transaction which occurred in the Southland Mall parking lot on Dec. 20, 2007. Bennett pleaded guilty to the charges on March 19 and appeared before Common Pleas Judge William Finnegan for sentencing.

In addition to the prison sentence, Bennett’s 1994 Ford Explorer was forfeited by the Court, along with $550 which was found on her at the time of her arrest.

Bennett was immediately taken into custody following sentencing. She will be transported to the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville to begin serving her prison sentence.
