Police Arrest Church Vandalism Suspects

Police believe they have the vandals responsible for a string of church break-ins. Two juveniles, who had been reported as runaways, were found after officers saw a flare the boys had ignited near Grant Middle School.

After the boys were found, officers then discovered vandalism to buses in the school parking lot as well as to the press box area of Harding Stadium.

Upon questioning, the boys admitted to breaking into three area churches and causing severe damage.

The two boys, aged 13 and 11, could face charges of vandalism and breaking and entering. The 13-year-old is being held at the Marion County Juvenile Corrections Center while the 11-year-old is in the custody of his parents.

The charges are being reviewed by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
