As part of The Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) safety initiative, an intersection and road improvement project will begin today on State Route 423 in Marion County. The goal of the project, between Marion-Cardington Road and Barks Road, is to improve the safety of this roadway and reduce congestion.
The scope of the construction will include the installation of left turn lanes in each direction, and a traffic signal upgrade at the intersection of SR 423 and Marion-Cardington Road. SR 423 will also be widened and a center turn lane will be installed beginning south of Marion-Cardington Road and extending to the five lane section in front of Southland Mall.
The intersection will remain open throughout the project with traffic being shifted to temporary lanes to accommodate construction.
The $2.2 million project is scheduled to be complete in October 2008.
