Four Injured In City School Bus Crash

05-07-2008  Article by:

A Marion City Schools' bus was involved in a crash on US 23 Wednesday morning. Three students and the bus driver were taken to Marion General Hospital with what officials described as minor injuries. All four have been treated and released.

According to school officials, at about 6:50 a.m. the bus was stopped at the traffic light on US 23 at State Route 229. When the light turned green, the bus began to pull forward, but was hit in the rear by a semi tractor-trailer.

The students, one from the Ridgedale School District and two from the Marion City Schools, were being transported to the Columbus School for the Blind.

The State Highway Patrol says the southbound lanes of US 23 were closed for a short time while the crash was cleaned up. The Patrol was continuing to investigate and had not immediately issued any citations.
