Month Puts Focus On Importance Of Foster Care

05-09-2008  Article by:

Marion County Children Services honored its 26 families who are currently serving as licensed foster care providers at the May 1 meeting of the Marion County Commissioners.

In a proclamation for National Foster Care Month, Commissioner Josh Daniels noted that more families are needed to open their homes to care, restore and offer help to children whose families are in crisis, and to provide stability, security, support, self identity and love.

“Foster families play a vital role in helping children and families heal and reconnect,” noted Daniels. “Marion County Children Services...works diligently to ensure that all of our county’s children have temporary or permanent, safe and loving homes and works to increase public awareness of the importance of those who open their homes to care for children.”

In the proclamation, commissioners urged all citizens to participate in National Foster Care Month activities in a positive way that will help children in need of caring foster families.

Marion County Children Services will honor its network of foster families at a banquet May 22.
