City Warning Residents About Zoning

05-29-2008  Article by:

The City of Marion Department of Zoning is reminding Marion Citizens of a few laws that apply to home additions.

Homeowners update and upgrade their homes during June and July more often than any other two months.

Any new structures or additions require a zoning permit in advance. These additions or structures include fences, sheds, garages, decks, porches, and pools.

Zoning codes also require pools with a depth of 24 inches or more to have at least a 4-foot high fence around the pool with a lockable gate.

Garage sales are permitted for a three-day period, twice per month.

People breaking these laws could be fined for violating the zoning codes.

This list is not all-inclusive. For more information about zoning codes, contact the department at 383-4114.
