Song Lyrics Lead To Bomb Search At Pleasant

05-30-2008  Article by:

Pleasant Middle School was locked down Thursday afternoon after a note was found intimating a bomb in a locker. In the end, the note turned out to be song lyrics.

The note was discovered in a trash can in the art room around noon. The teacher who found the note passed it along to Middle School Principle Lane Warner who contacted Superintendent Steve Larcomb.

Larcomb then called for the evacuation of the school following procedures.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Fire Department and school personnel conducted a search of the premises.

Later, Chief Deputy Al Hayden said the note was in a notebook two girls had been writing songs in. Because it was not ruled a threat, no charges will be filed.

The school reopened at 12:55.
