New Police Tip Line Getting Results

Marion City Police Chief Tom Bell, Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey, and Marion County Prosecutor Jim Slagle have released the first two months worth of statistics concerning the new Crime Tip Line.

Since opening for service on March 31st, 72 calls have been received by officers. Of those, 63 have concerned illegal drug activity.

Three of those drug tips have led to the arrest of three individuals. There are also numerous open investigations ongoing.

“Officers follow up on every call received,” Chief Bell said in a press release.

Officers have also recovered drugs, paraphernalia, plants, and a growing system for marijuana.

Callers can report any crime in Marion County to the tip line, and can leave their contact information or report anonymously.

That number is 375-TIPS.

Chief Bell, Sheriff Bailey, and Slagle expressed their thanks to the citizens of the community. Chief Bell added, “The public is our eyes and ears.
