Friends and co-workers of Cherie G. Wall, a long-time employee of Marion General Hospital, who died from Ehlers Danlos, a rare tissue disorder, created and began awarding a scholarship in her memory in 1993.
This year, the recipient of the Cherie G. Wall Scholarship is Devin Gottfried, a native of Sycamore and graduate of Wynford High School. Gottfried was surprised with the $750 scholarship at a meeting held at the hospital.
The scholarship is presented to a deserving person who is pursuing a career in radiology. Criteria for selection to receive the scholarship include characteristics that Wall was well known for, such as dependability, trustworthiness, cooperation, and a capacity for caring.
