Marion was one of three counties added to the list of those receiving help after a March snowstorm dumped 18 inches of snow.
US Senator George Voinovich stated that Licking, Madison, and Marion joined 17 other counties in Central Ohio covered under a disaster declaration President George Bush issued on April 24th.
The declaration means a 75% reimbursement for the costs of snow removal, police, and other expenses.
Marion Service Director Jay Shoup said Marion’s tab on the storm was at least $34,400, meaning the city will receive at least $25,800 in help. That amount included salt, fuel, equipment and overtime for workers. Not included in the total was overtime for other safety workers.
