Man Pleads Guilty To Cocaine Trafficking

06-16-2008  Article by:

Eli Brown, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine.

Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date. Marion County Prosecutor Jim Slagle has requested that Brown be sentenced to one year in prison.

Brown has remained in custody at the Multi-County Correctional Center since being arrested by MARMET drug task force officers on April 18. During his plea proceedings Brown admitted to selling crack cocaine to an uncover operative on April 4 for $150 and again on April 18 for $200. Officers also located approximately $1000 worth of cocaine in Brown’s home, along with $990 in cash. Slagle has requested that the $990 be forfeited.

Brown’s case was scheduled for trial to begin on July 8.
