A Morrow County man could spend the rest of his life in prison after murdering his girlfriend’s mother.

Luke Adkins, 20, was sentenced to 41 years to life in prison on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, and a gun violation. Judge Howard E. Hall said the prison time is to be served consecutively.

Adkins pled guilty on June 13th. He murdered 39-year-old Kimberly Russell as part of a plan with his 16-year old girlfriend Angelika Owens, the daughter of Russell.

Owens is scheduled to go to trial as an adult on August 11th.

The robbery charge stems from an armed incident at Castle’s Gas and Deli in Marengo.
