Camp Invention To Spur Science, Curiosity 07-01-2008

Camp Invention is scheduled to take place at River Valley Middle School the week of July 7-11, 2008. It is a non-profit science and creativity summer day camp sponsored by the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation in Akron, Ohio, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The aim of this program and camp is to create and foster curiosity in science and channel that curiosity into creative problem solving through open-ended discovery.

Children entering grades 1-6 will spend one week enjoying exciting hands-on, cross-curriculum activities. Each day, campers will work together exploring physics, engineering, environmental science, and creative problem-solving.

Camp Invention is presented in partnership with local schools. The week-long program combines science, math, art, history, and fun! It is aligned with the state and national curriculum content standards. The students will be exposed to hands-on activities. The goal is to have a minimum of 30 students in the K-5 grades from the Marion County area (River Valley, Ridgedale, Elgin, Pleasant, Marion City, and Marion Catholic).
