Entry into the event is $5 per car load. It is free, however, for those carloads donating gently used or repairable band instruments or those with MTC/OSUM Student IDs.

Once inside, it’s a smorgasbord of music and food.

11 bands will take the stage from 4-9:30 battling out for the moniker of Marion’s Best Band, along with $250 in cash, 10 hours of recording time at Jester’s Court Recording Studios, and a co-headlining gig at next year’s event.

Preceding the battle, participants in this year’s Shining Stars will take the stage from 2-3 PM and the Marion Concert Band will perform from 3-4 PM.

At 9:30, Mojo Risin, one of the country’s premiere Doors tribute bands, will take the stage.

The rib-eating begins at four as well. Five local restaurants put their grills on the line in a test of culinary supremacy. Tickets for the tasting, which includes ribs from Taste Buds Catering, Conway’s BBQ, The Marion Country Club, Michael’s Steakhouse, and Bier’s are $12. A limited number of tickets will be available at the event, but they sell out fast, so arrive early.

Additionally, there will be concessions and beverages available as well as 50/50 drawings and a raffle where the grand prize winner gets two tickets for the Ohio State/OU football game.

The 3rd Annual event is being presented through the partnership of the US Open Commission, The Ohio State University at Marion, Marion Technical College, The Marion Star, and WDCM.
