Michael Davis, 32, appeared before Common Judge William Finnegan Tuesday morning and pleaded guilty to four counts of trafficking in cocaine and two counts of possession of cocaine.
Davis was immediately sentenced to 4 years and 11 months in prison and fined $8,000.
Davis was indicted in April for three counts of trafficking and one count of possession after making three small sales of cocaine to an undercover operative who was working under the supervision of the Marmet Drug Task Force. After posting bond, Davis was arrested in June after selling cocaine to a different undercover operative also working under the supervision of the Marmet Drug Task Force. This resulted in Davis being arrested and indicted for two more drug charges.
Officers also recovered over $2000 worth of cocaine in Davis’ home.
Davis was scheduled for jury trial to commence Aug. 26. Instead of facing trial, Davis appeared in court Tuesday morning and pleaded guilty to all six drug offenses.
The prosecutor’s office recommended that Davis, who has previously been sent to prison for trafficking, be sentenced to five years in prison with no early release.
Davis has remained incarcerated at the Multi-County Correctional Center since June 18. He will be transported to the Correctional Reception Center in Orient to begin serving his prison sentence.
