Special Agent Kirk H. Steward of The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) was presented a certificate and pin at the 12th annual ATF recognition awards ceremony at the ATF Headquarters in Washington D.C. on Thursday.
Agent Steward was awarded the Hostile Action Award given to agents under assault in an extreme hostile environment under excessive fire.
U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey was the featured speaker with NBC Weatherman Al Roker serving as master of ceremony. ATF Acting Director Michael Sullivan presented Steward with the award.
Steward is a 1989 graduate of Marion Harding High School and received a Criminal Justice degree from Marshall University. He is completing his Master's degree in Homeland Security. He is assigned to the Louisville Division of ATF. He and his wife, Kelly (Goldsberry) also a Marion native, have two sons, Ethan and Alex. He is the son of John and Joan Steward of Marion.
