Verizon Donates To Turning Point

10-03-2008  Article by:

The Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, has donated $15,000 to the Turning Point Domestic Violence Shelter.

The donation comes during Domestic Violence Awareness month.

“With these funds, we can continue to serve the residents of Marion county and the surrounding area,” executive director of Turning Point Paula Roller said.

Verizon Wireless will also accept donations of old wireless phones no longer used at all of its stores, including 1623 Marion Mount Gilead Road. These phones will be donated to victims of domestic violence as a means of calling for help.
