Bachman has served the Marion community as a hospital executive for nearly 21 years. At the former MedCenter Hospital, he served as Vice President of Fiscal Services from November 1987 through June 1992. He then transitioned to Marion General Hospital/OhioHealth, serving as Vice President of Finance from June 1992 through January 2000. Bachman served as Interim President and CEO from February to July 2000. Following a nationwide search, he was promoted to President and CEO in July 2000.

During Bachman’s tenure as President, Marion General Hospital achieved several important milestones, including:

• Two-time OhioHealth President’s Award
• Two-time Thomson (Solucient) Top 100 Hospital Performance Improvement Leader Award
• Record financial performance in fiscal 2007, which was exceeded in fiscal 2008
• Patient satisfaction results consistently in the top 10-15 percent nationally
• Adding new service lines including Center Street Community Clinic, open heart and angioplasty services, spine surgery, and joint revision surgery

Bachman has also been very actively involved in numerous community organizations including serving on the boards of the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and Marion Area Health Center. Under his leadership, Marion General employees have nearly tripled their annual giving to United Way.
