11-10-2008  Article by:

Six high school students from Marion County have received the Honda-Ohio State Math Medal Award, which honors the students for their achievements in mathematics in high school and could lead to $10,000 in scholarships.

12 of the 129 total seniors to win the award, which is a collaboration between Honda and the Ohio State University College of Engineering, will receive $2,500 per year for the 2009-2010 school year, with the award being renewable for four years.

Winning the award were Keriann Arnott of Elgin, Adam Frank of Harding, Jordan Sill of Marion Catholic, Thomas Baldauf of Pleasant, Caleb Swisher of Ridgedale, and Austin Jacob at River Valley.

The winners also received savings bonds.

This is the 5th year for the award.  In west-central Ohio, Honda asks 156 high school in 15 counties to recommend their best senior math scholar based on academic performance at the end of their junior year.
