Time Warner Holding HS Video Contest

11-11-2008  Article by:

High school students are challenged to create a public service announcement (PSA) that focuses on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle in a video contest from Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio Division. The top PSAs will air on Local On Demand, where viewers will choose the winning entry and help a great cause, with every view raising $1 to benefit Children’s Hunger Alliance.

The PSA should address how living a healthy lifestyle, whether it’s a smart diet or regular exercise, is essential. Students also can partner with local health professionals to help shape their message.

A panel of judges will select up to ten PSAs to feature in a “Viewer’s Choice” contest that will air between February 1st through the 28th on Local On Demand, a free On Demand channel available on channel 1111 or 1. Time Warner Digital Cable customers may view the PSAs at any time by tuning to channel 1111 or 1 and selecting the Viewer’s Choice category. Every view counts as a vote … and as $1 for Children’s Hunger Alliance, with Time Warner Cable donating $1 per view, up to $5,000, to the agency.

J.D. Beiting, director of Strategic Alliances for Children’s Hunger Alliance, encouraged students to participate, stating, “It’s always been important to us to generate this sort of awareness on a mass scale. To have schools take the initiative and encourage their students to promote healthy lifestyles is important.”

To participate, students must submit their entry by January 9th.

Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio Division will award the following prizes:

  • First place - $500 cash to student and/or student team and $500 to school to purchase video equipment. Winning public service announcement will be featured in a congratulatory PSA and air on 40 cable channels.
  • Second place - $250 cash to student and/or student team.
  • Third place - $100 cash to student and/or student team.
