Marion Man Pleads Guilty To Robbery

11-11-2008  Article by:

Brandon M. Hensel, 21, Marion pleaded guilty Monday afternoon to aggravated robbery, a firearm specification, tampering with evidence, and possession of cocaine.

The charges stemmed form a July 16th armed robbery of the Certified gas station on East Center Street. Hensel entered the station during the early morning hours while armed with a gun and demanded money from an employee. Hensel obtained about $100 during the robbery and was caught within several hours.

Hensel was scheduled for trial to commence November 20th. As a result of today’s guilty plea, the trial has been cancelled.

Marion County Prosecutor Jim Slagle’s office recommended that Hensel be sentenced to eleven years in prison. Sentencing will take place at a later date following a pre-sentence investigation.

Hensel has remained in custody at the Multi-County Correctional Center since being arrested on July 16.
