For a little while Tuesday afternoon, Marion residents could rejoice. They had the cheapest gas in the state.
Ohiogasprices.com had 5 different area gas stations listed at $1.60 per gallon of regular unleaded at 12:45 Tuesday afternoon.
Swifty, at North Main and Council, was listed as one of those, although their cash price was the cheapest in town at $1.55.
It did not last, however.
As the day progressed, prices shot up to $1.85 and $1.99 at several area locations.
Still a far cry from prices 2 months ago, when the average gallon of gas cost $4.00.
