Marion Bank Warns About Fake Messages

11-14-2008  Article by:

The Ohio State Bank is warning customers and non-customers alike about a potential fraud.

The banks says people have been getting text messages purporting to be from The Ohio State Bank telling them that their bank accounts have been suspended and to call a phone number to reactivate the account.

An automated service at 425-998-0858 then asks for a credit card number.

Also recently, an email has gone out supposedly from the Ohio State Bank, directing “account holders” to another website. That website, however, is no longer working.

Ohio State Bank is not sending out the messages.

The Marion City Police Department encourages residents never to give out personal information like bank account or credit card numbers.

If you believe you are a victim, contact your financial institution immediately.
