Marion Restaurant Closes Doors

11-18-2008  Article by:

The faltering economy has claimed another Marion landmark. Michael’s Steakhouse has ceased operations after twenty-three years in business.

The steak house, which first opened in 1985, was started by Albert and Madlyn Mastro and was run by their son Lou.

Lou Mastro was not available at press time.

Michael’s Steakhouse was purchased on April 1st, 1985 as the former Western Sizzlin’ Steak House.

This was the third restaurant in Marion to be owned by the Mastro’s, as they previously purchased Perkins Restaurant in 1972. That establishment remains open and run by the Mastros.

The first restaurant the Mastros opened in Marion was Villa Pizza which was located in the downtown area.
