A Marion man is in serious condition this morning after being struck by a train over the weekend.
47-year-old Esper J. Lanum was attempting to cross the tracks in the 500 block of West Center Street when he was hit.
Officers with the Marion City Police Department said Lanum was attempting to beat the train at the time of the incident and was 200 feet from the nearest cross walk.
Lanum was transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious visible injuries and was listed in serious condition Monday evening.
Police are waiting for drug and alcohol tests while the investigation continues.
