Jerry G. Douglas, 30, of Worthington, was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday for three counts of trafficking in cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine.
Douglas sold cocaine to a confidential operative working under the supervision of the MARMET Drug Task Force, three times in January and February. When officers arrested Douglas on April 2nd, he was caught trying to dispose of cocaine having a street value in excess of $10,000.
Douglas pleaded guilty to the charges on October 8th and appeared before Common Pleas Judge William Finnegan Tuesday for sentencing. Finnegan followed recommendation of the Prosecutor’s Office in imposing the eight year sentence.
Marion County Prosecutor Jim Slagle stated that the eight year sentence recommendation was due to the large quantity of cocaine in Douglas’ possession and because he had twice previously been sent to prison for selling cocaine.
Douglas has remained in custody at the Multi-County Correctional Center since being arrested on April 2nd. He will be transported to the Correctional Reception Center in Orient to begin serving his prison sentence.
