North Union used a strong defense to fluster River Valley in the first half and held off a strong comeback by the Vikings in the second half to win on Friday in high school boys basketball, 56-43.
Hot shooting by North Union also helped in the first half when it seemed like anything they threw up hit the bottom of the net.
The Wildcats were led to victory with Ransome's 17 points. Evan Jamison added 15 points and snatched 10 rebounds.
Luke McCoy led the Vikings with 14 points.
River Valley JV won their game over the Wildcats, 61-44. The Vikings were led by Bo Keener with 29. Trevor Miller had 12 and Cody Baker added 11 for RV. North Union was paced by Travis Laird's 10.
