The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was called to Prospect when a man was seen walking south along the railroad tracks with a gun in his hand just before 8 PM on Saturday. Investigators say the man had threatened to kill himself along with law enforcement officers.
A responding deputy caught sight of the suspect, but lost track of him. At that point, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Counter Assault Team, Hostage Negotiation Team, and the Aviation Unit were called in.
The suspect, 36-year-old Vincent Shroats of 209 Railroad Street in Prospect, was eventually taken into custody inside a barn in Delaware County.
The handgun was also fund.
Charges were forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor Brent Yager’s office.
