The Marion Family YMCA has met its goal for the 2009 Strong Kids Campaign.
41 volunteers helped raise $35,085, more than the goal of $35,000. Donations, however, are still coming in.
Funds raised through the campaign allow the YMCA to provide financial assistance with members and program fees for youths and their families.
According to Executive Director Theresa Lubke, the Marion YMCA provided assistance to over 1,200 individuals. Currently, 20% of youth members receive some kind of assistance towards their membership fees.
310 donors helped reach the goal, along with activities like a bake sale, autograph session with former Buckeye Pete Johnson, and an upcoming Baseball Fantasy Camp raffle.
“This campaign demonstrates our volunteers’ and donors’ caring for others and showing of respect and responsibility for their entire community.” Lubke said.
