St. Mary's Holding Vacation Bible School 06-19-2009

St. Mary Parish is inviting area children to Vacation Bible School.

This summer, the parish will offer ‘Come Journey with Jesus: A Summer Mission Experience June 22-25.  Created by the Columban Mission Education Program, ‘Come Journey with Jesus’ is a multicultural experience which follows the missionary pursuits of the church in the United States, Peru, Japan, and the Philippines.

According to VBS chairperson, Kathi Brennan, this is the fourth year of VBS programming for St. Mary Church and attendance has averaged 100 children.  St.
Mary's VBS is open, free of charge, to children who have completed preschool through sixth grade.  Activities will be held in the church basement, also known as Moria Hall, from 9 a.m. to noon each day, as well as an evening program in the grade school gymnasium on Thursday, June 25.  The Thursday program will include an international picnic and feature several presentations by the children demonstrating what they learned during VBS.  St. Mary Church is located at 251 North Main Street, Marion.

‘Come Journey with Jesus’ will offer daily games, songs, snacks, crafts and storytelling that center around the country of the day.  Missionaries throughout history will also be profiled, including Frances Cabrini, Rose of Lima, Martin de Porres, and Francis Xavier.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.  Reservations may be made by emailing to vabrennan@hotmail.com with the child’s name, most recent grade completed in school, and contact phone number.  Questions may be directed to St. Mary’s Religious Education office at 382-2262 or Brennan at 383-9049.
