A fire that killed two children started because a child was playing with a lighter.

An investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s office found that one of the children caught a blanket on fire with a lighter.

Although technically an arson because a person was responsible, the Marion County Prosecutor’s office is viewing the incident as a tragic accident.

2-year-old Jacob Tackett and 8-month-old Madison Barrett were killed when their apartment at 236 Blaine Avenue caught fire in May.

A 4-year old and 19-month old were rescued from the fire.
