Tri-Rivers Grads Are First Of Their Kind 06-25-2009

The Tri-Rivers LPN to RN and Practical Nursing Graduation was an evening of firsts, according to the Interim Adult Director Richard George. The event, held Friday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Palace Theatre, honored the first class of students to graduate from Tri-Rivers School of Nursing LPN to RN Transitions program and the Practical Nursing Program.

All of the graduates were also the first students to attend classes at the new location for the Adult Center's healthcare programs Center on Center at 333 East Center Street, Marion.

"It has been a super busy year ever since," continued Mr. George.  "Last August I shared with both classes that they are special. They are both "first" classes. The LPN-RN class is the very first class and as such held a special responsibility to pave the way for future classes. We have learned a lot through their experiences, comments, and evaluations, which will help to make the program even stronger in the future."

Addressing the graduates, he said, "You are entering on a path of lifelong learning. Nursing brings incredible rewards but demands continuing education and enhancement of skills."

All of the graduates were presented with a rose sponsored by TWIG V. Several special awards were also presented, including: Licensed Practical Nursing Association of Ohio Award, Pamela May; Margaret Helen Gast Award, Kristel Hurtt; and the Judith Ryan Higel Award, Connie Howard.

PN Students graduating with honors included: Nikarla Hart, Kristel Hurtt, Phyllis Hutchinson, Michelle Lee, Pam May, Hannah Meade, Dana Newland, Brenda Thomas-Wright.

LPN-RN students graduating with honors: Jaime Clayton, Elizabeth Folefac, Amanda Parish, Donna Ray-Watts, and Colleen Wickham.
