MTC Breaks Ground On New Building

06-25-2009  Article by:

Marion Technical College moved one step closer Wednesday toward entering a new era as ground was officially broken at the construction site of the Health Technologies Center.

The new building will be located at the Southeast corner of the Marion Campus. The building is expected to be completed by the fall of 2010. Faculty and students are scheduled to start their first quarter in the new building Winter Quarter of 2011.

MTC officials were joined at the groundbreaking by representatives of the building architects, donors, faculty, staff and state officials. The Health Technologies Center was designed through the effort of Jester Jones Schifer Architects Ltd. of Marion, Ohio.

“The construction of the new building demonstrates MTC’s commitment to continue to produce the best quality graduates from an outstanding learning environment,” said MTC’s president, Dr. Richard Bryson. “This facility will be one of the finest in the area, and it will enhance our health students’ ability to compete for jobs at the highest level after earning their degree.”

The new Health Technologies Center will provide the MTC health fields with approximately 29,000 additional square-feet of classrooms, state of the art lab space and offices.

Contributions can still be made. To find out more about the building and how to donate, contact Andy Harper at 740-389-4636 (224) or harpera@mtc.edu.
