On Wednesday, the new 45 mile-per-hour speed limit was posted as Marion cleared another hurdle in the construction of the Northwest Connecter Road.

Although not the only reason for the speed limit change, the connector road would increase truck traffic as the City tries to divert trucks from downtown Marion by creating a pathway from U.S. 23 to Whirlpool.

City Council says they felt it appropriate to drop the speed limit because of recent construction of houses in the area.
