No Drunk Drivers At Marion OVI Checkpoint 06-30-2009

An OVI checkpoint on Friday nabbed two law breakers, but no drunk drivers.

Still, participants from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and post commander Lt. Chuck Jones are calling the checkpoint a success.

The checkpoint was run on State Route 423 from 9 PM until 2 AM with 21 officers helping.

1,137 cars went through the checkpoint, with 916 of those cars being stopped.

Six of those were pulled over for further investigation.

Of those, one driver was arrested on charges of driving under suspension and one had his car confiscated and was arrested for driving without an operator’s license.

Lt. Jones credits people planning ahead and a constant push reminding people not to drink and drive as the reason for no OVI incidents this weekend.
