With July 4th falling on a Saturday this year, several government offices will celebrate the day on Friday.

City Hall, The Marion Area Transit, Marion Senior Center, Marion Recreation Department, and the city of Marion Compost site on Herr Road will be closed.

The early celebration also means sanitation crews will not collect trash on Friday.  Instead, those residents with normal Friday pick-up are asked to have their trash at curbside no later than 7 AM on Monday.  The crews will try to pick up both Friday and Monday’s refuse on Monday, but some collection may stretch into Tuesday.

Although the Recreation department is closed, Lincoln Park Pool will be open from 1 to 7 PM Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

All divisions of the Marion County Health Department will also be closed.
