Homecoming Weekend Means Increased Enforcement

09-25-2009  Article by:

The Marion County Sheriff's Office will be participating in a countywide traffic detail targeting speed and alcohol related violations. Deputies will be conducting extra traffic enforcement and patrol on Saturday September 26, 2009 for the local homecoming dances.

The sheriff’s office has a received a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Governor's Highway Safety Office for overtime traffic enforcement. These monies enable officers to work extra overtime hours during various dates throughout the year to curb impaired driving and speed and seatbelt violations.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office will be patrolling all local state routes, county and township roads, and village streets for these violations and will have a zero tolerance during the homecoming season and other high traffic holidays throughout the year.
