Marion Technical College is celebrating a historic fall quarter. Enrollment is up 22% since classes started Wednesday, September 16th.
That equates to 1,880 full time students. There are 2,763 full or part-time students overall, a 16% increase and around 500 more students than last year.
Health curriculums, which see about 60% of the students each year, has benefited from state grants which have allowed the programs to accept and train more students.
Still, the increase is across the board.
“Business, technology. We have an increase everywhere,” Nikki Workman, spokesperson for MTC said.
Around the country, two-year technical schools have seen a sharp increase as parents and students look for cheaper alternatives to four-year schools.
