Saturday, October 31 the Palace EDGE Board hosts a Masquerade Ball from 8 p.m. to midnight in the May Pavilion. Guests 18 and older are encouraged (but not required) to dress in costume and come enjoy a night of music and dancing.
“It’s a Halloween party for adults,” explains Palace Events Coordinator and EDGE Board member Daniel Bradshaw. “We want to create the atmosphere where people can get in costume, dance a little, have a drink, and enjoy a night in downtown Marion.”
Prizes are available in several categories for those wearing costumes to the event including Best Individual, Best Couple, Scariest, Funniest, and Most Original.
Those attending can enjoy light snacks including popcorn as well as drink specials and a cash bar.
The Masquerade Ball is one of several events envisioned and planned by the Palace’s EDGE Board (a 40 and under advisory board). Since their first event in 2007, the EDGE Board has hosted Dueling Piano shows, Buckeye Bashes, wine and beer tastings, and more both in the Palace Theatre and the May Pavilion.
Bradshaw hopes events such as these will help draw in a younger demographic.
“There is a large group of people out there under the age of 40 who aren’t as aware of the Palace’s offerings as we would like,” Bradshaw says. “These EDGE Board events are just one attempt to capture their attention.”
Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Advance tickets are currently available for purchase in the Palace box office, 276 W. Center St. in downtown Marion or by phone at 740/383-2101. Box office hours are 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.-noon Saturday, and closed Sunday. Information may also be found online at www.marionpalace.org.
