Police: Love Triangle May Have Led To Murder 10-26-2009

A man is in custody Monday facing charges of murder. Police are saying a love triangle may have led to the shooting that cost a Marion man his life on Sunday.

According to Major Jay McDonald of the Marion City Police Department, a call came into 9-1-1 around 9:20 Sunday evening reporting a shooting on Oak Street.

Responding units found 47-year-old Kevin McMurray suffering from four gunshots. He was transported to Marion General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

47-year-old Terry Taylor, of 347 Avondale in Marion, was arrested at Wood Valley Estates in Caledonia two hours after police say he fled from the scene.

Major McDonald says it looks like a love triangle led to the shooting.

McDonald says the wife of the victim, Rhonda McMurray is believed to have been involved with Taylor for several weeks prior to the shooting.

According to McDonald, the three were well known to police following several domestic calls to the Oak Street home. Both Kevin McMurray and Taylor had accused each other of retaliatory acts, including slashing car tires.

Police are still investigating the homicide, with search warrants expected to be executed on both Taylor’s car and home.

Investigators are still trying to find the murder weapon which is believed to be a small caliber hand gun.

Investigators believe Taylor may have a criminal history in Rock Hill, South Carolina where he is believed to have shot a man.
