After sixteen of thirty three teams downed more than 100 wings each at the original competition at Grant Middle School, OSUM and Lowe’s proved they were the teams that brought the heat. So they faced off just one week later at Buffalo Wild Wings to determine who would take home the trophy and the title.
OSUM brought more than just their appetite – they brought their own cheering section. “We’re ready,” stated OSUM team member Wayne Rowe. “We keep getting closer every year.”
When asked where their cheerleaders were, Lowe’s team member Josh Nash replied “We don’t need any cheerleaders, but OSUM is going to need someone there to console them when we’re done – because we’re gonna win.”
It turns out he was right. At 137 wings, Lowe’s took the title by just nine wings.
“These wings came straight from the fryers,” said Mike Mastro, owner of Buffalo Wild Wings. “So they weren’t just spicy, they were really hot.”
