With one exception, the incumbents retained their positions, while Marion County Children Services passed their levy, Elgin will get a new school, and River Valley will have to figure out what is next.

In the only unseating of an incumbent, Rebecca Gustin edged out Imo Crowe by a scant 116 votes to take the third City Council At Large spot after Jason Schaber retained a spot and Ryan A. Schertzer earned the most votes.

Ayers Ratliff defeated Bryan Potteiger 66-33% in the 2nd Ward, approximately the same percentage Mike Thomas defeated Eric Hine by in the 3rd Ward.

Debbie Blevins had a slightly rougher time beating challenger Nick Clarke, who lost by a 55-45 split, the same percentage John Smith beat Barry Wallace Jr. by in the 5th Ward.

Ralph Cumston and James Gilsdorf were unchallenged.

Dave Edwards defeated challenger Spencer Phelps by a 66%-33% margin for President of City Council.

Marion County Children Services finally found success on voting day with a reduced levy.  That reduction, in the amount of .38 mills, helped MCCS pass by a count of 9,129 – 7,649.

Elgin Schools also passed a 7.49 mill-28 year bond issue with a 1.0 mill continuous tax levy 1,384-1,276.

183 provisional ballots remain to be counted.

Across the state, Issues 1, 2, and 3 all passed.
